Alheit Vineyards, Hereafter Here Chenin Blanc 2021
Produced by Alheit Vineyards, a boutique winery located in the Western Cape region of South Africa.
The wine is made from Chenin Blanc grapes grown in old vineyards in the Skurfberg Mountains, where the vines are dry-farmed on ancient, weathered soils. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and undergo natural fermentation in French oak barrels with native yeasts, followed by a period of maturation on the lees.
The resulting wine is a pale straw color, with aromas of ripe tropical fruit such as pineapple, guava, and passionfruit, along with hints of honey, citrus, and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and refreshing, with flavors of citrus, green apple, and stone fruit, complemented by a subtle minerality and a touch of oak.
Pair with seafood, salads, and light dishes, or for enjoying on its own as an aperitif.
