Château Calon-Ségur Saint-Estèphe (Grand Cru Classé) 2005
Made from a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, all grown on the estate's vineyards on the left bank of the Gironde estuary.
The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks before being aged for 20 months in oak barrels, 50% of which were new. The wine was then bottled and aged for a further year before being released to the market.
Château Calon-Ségur Saint-Estèphe 2005 has a deep ruby color with purple reflections, and an intense and complex aroma of blackberry, blackcurrant, and cherry, along with notes of tobacco, leather, and spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with firm and ripe tannins, a good acidity, and a long and persistent finish.
A wine of great power, elegance, and complexity, with the potential to age for many years.
